Azure Landing Zone Design & Automation

Problem

A sample environment needed a structured Azure landing zone with proper separation between development and production, consistent resource tagging, and a way to track missing tags across resources.

Approach

Designed an Azure landing zone with separate development and production subscriptions, network segmentation, and policy-based resource tagging. Built Python scripts to inventory sample resources and report missing tags. Wrote Bicep templates so the environment could be rebuilt on demand, and prepared runbooks and a handover guide for a fictional operations team.

Result

Delivered a reproducible, documented landing zone with automated tagging checks and handover materials for ongoing operations.

Cloud Migration Demonstration

Problem

Fictional migration scenario required a working example of a well-structured Azure environment with automated oversight of tagging and resource hygiene.

Approach

Built a sample Azure landing zone with two subscriptions (development, production) and a hub-and-spoke network. Implemented Azure Policy rules requiring owner, environment and cost-centre tags, and created a weekly Python report listing untagged or orphaned resources.

Result

Produced a demonstration environment with automated weekly reporting on tagging and resource compliance. No commercial client or measured business outcome is claimed.

Tagging Compliance Reporting Tool

Problem

A sample team needed visibility into which Azure resources did not comply with an established tagging standard.

Approach

Wrote a Python script using the Azure SDK to read resources, check them against a tagging standard, and produce CSV and HTML summary reports.

Result

Delivered an automated, repeatable tagging compliance report for the sample team.

Cost Guardrails Demonstration

Problem

A small team needed a simple way to monitor and control Azure spend without dedicated finance tooling.

Approach

Set up sample budgets and alerts in Azure Cost Management, and wrote a short guide explaining how the team could review spend each month.

Result

Provided a lightweight cost governance setup and a monthly review process for the sample team.
